It seems that I have died off deviantArt yet again, but not to worry. I will hopefully be putting up shiny new cosplay pictures in September!
Perhaps you are curious as to why I am making a post about something that won't appear until 5 months from now, but let me describe my current situation (skip to the last paragraph to get to the point if you don't want to read about my love for my college, the friends there, and other ramblings).
After cancelling my enrollment to the expensive Southern Methodist University (because they removed all of my financial aid), I enrolled at the more affordable University of Texas at Dallas. Aside from the current economic crisis (Thank you SMU for screwing up my financial aid: And no, there is absolutely positively no sarcasm in this statement), I feel sooooo lucky to be at my current university because of the students here. UT Dallas is famous (or infamous) for being a nerdy and very diverse college, and I find that I am able to get along very well with all the students I meet and share common interests with a large portion of them.
A couple of months ago, I was browsing through pictures from my cosplay idols when I was bitten by the cosplay bug yet again. I had tried my hand at cosplaying back in high school when I cosplayed Severus Snape along with a couple of other friends who dressed as Dumbledore and McGonagall. Even though I had a lot of fun striking silly poses and running around in the park with my friends, the photoshoot was somewhat of a failure in that I had originally gathered around 10 people and only two of them showed up due to the low popularity of cosplay and myself at my high school (and my friends that did show up were in theatre and totally IN LOVE with the idea of dressing up as characters from their favorite movies and musicals). Despite the low turnout at my first attempt, I decided that I should get over my fear of failure and ask my group of friends at my college to cosplay with me. Judging from my friends' enthusiasm for anime and manga, and my greater popularity nowadays (well, compared to high school when I was the emo kid that had her head buried in a textbook doing homework or drawing 24/7), I finally posed the question, and was met with extreme exuberance. In fact, a number of my friends were even more into the idea of cosplaying than me!
We all debated for a time about what to cosplay, and finally settled on cosplaying Alice in Wonderland, but with a twist (that's a secret for now!). Since half of the group is leaving for vacation or home over the summer, we've decided to start desigining and making our costumes now. My friends also decided to attend Anime-Fest, which is hosted at the beginning of September, so we will be having our photoshoot around that time as a type of welcome back event for our group of friends. I am highly excited for this because four other people have already started buying/ordering parts of their costumes for this September!
Until then!!!!
